Welcome to our Guitar program. Our curriculum is structured and builds from foundational skills to advanced techniques. The guitar program not only caters to all levels - beginner, intermediate, and advanced but also offers flexibility for students to focus on their preferred genre or skill set (e.g. Classical Guitar, Rock, Blues, Jazz, etc.)

Stages of Learning

Foundational Stage (1-2 years)

This stage focuses on building the basics. Learners should develop finger strength, coordination, and a basic understanding of music theory. Play simple songs with a steady strumming rhythm using open chords and understand  simple music theory concepts.

Proper Posture, finger positioning, and strumming/picking technique

Daily finger stretching and strengthening exercises

Music Theory Integration

Introduction basic harmonic concepts

Develop fluency in reading staff notation

Rhythmic Development

Master fundamental timing concepts and simple strumming patterns

Learn to internalize rhythm while maintaining a steady tempo

Intermediate Stage (2-4 years)

At this stage, learners focus on developing more technical skills and expanding their knowledge of scales, theory, and fingerpicking. Progress to challenging classical pieces preparing for Trinity Grade examination.

Learn fingerpicking patterns (Travis picking, arpeggios).

Daily practice on scales to build speed and precision.

Theoretical Advancement

Introduction to Barre Chords, Power Chords and Scales (major, minor, pentatonic)

Chord Progressions: Explore I-IV-V, ii-V-I, and other common progressions

Efficiency in Playing 

Complex Strumming Patterns (Syncopation, muting, and palm muting)

Basic Soloing and improvising over backing tracks in pentatonic and other scales

Advanced Stage (3-4+ years)

Learners work on mastering complex techniques, exploring music theory in-depth, and developing their own style.

Chord Extensions: Suspended chords, diminished chords, augmented chords, 7ths, and more  jazz chords.

Lead Guitar Techniques: Hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, bends, vibrato, tapping, and sweep picking

Composition and Songwriting: Writing original chord progressions, melodies, and songs

Professional Performance Skills

Playing in different Styles: blues, jazz, metal, classical, etc.

Composing/Improvising solos to be used in original work

Stage presence and performance psychology

Elective Features:

Cultural enrichment includes an in depth exploration of Indian Classical Ragas  & introduction to Indian classical music concepts, broadening musical perspectives and improvisational abilities.
